Mae gofalwyr ifanc yn blant a phobl ifanc sy’n gofalu am neu’n helpu gofalu am aelod o’r teulu neu gyfaill a chanddynt salwch, anabledd neu sy’n cael eu heffeithio gan gyflwr iechyd meddwl neu gaethineb.

Mae gofalu’n effeithio ar brofiad gofalwyr ifanc mewn ysgolion a cholegau, gan gynnwys eu llesiant, prydlondeb, presenoldeb a chyrhaeddiad.

Gall ysgolion a cholegau chwarae rhan allweddol yn cyfeirio pobl ifanc at gefnogaeth, yn ogystal â chymryd camau i gefnogi eu dysgu. Amlygwyd rhai arferion effeithiol yn adolygiad thematig Estyn o ofalwyr ifanc (2019).

Ariannwyd Ymddiriedolaeth Gofalwyr Cymru gan Lywodraeth Cymru i ddatblygu astudiaethau achos yn amlygu sut all gofalwyr ifanc gael eu cefnogi mewn ysgolion a cholegau, ac adnoddau i gefnogi’r gwaith o adnabod dysgwyr a chanddynt gyfrifoldebau gofalu a’u cynorthwyo gyda’u cyrhaeddiad a’u llesiant.

Mae’r casgliad o adnoddau diddorol a hygyrch ar gyfer ysgolion cynradd ac uwchradd yn cynnwys cynlluniau gwersi a thaflenni gwaith a ffeithlenni i’w hargraffu. Cawsant eu datblygu i fod yn gydnaws â’r Cwricwlwm i Gymru (Llywodraeth Cymru, 2020).
