Young Carers Action Day: Wednesday 12th March 2025
What you can do to help give young carers a break
If you work with young carers or young adult carers, you will know they are spending ever-increasing amounts of time looking after a family member at home. They are exhausted. And their message this Young Carers Action Day is simple:
Give Me A Break
That’s why local carer centres in England, Scotland and Wales are putting on a wide range of activities to help give young carers a break this Young Carers Action Day.
Ideas for giving young carers a break range from drumming workshops and drama and graffiti activities, to boxing and fitness and wellbeing sessions.
Young carers in north Tyneside are heading out to a local farm. And the Lambeth Carers Centre is putting on a special pampering and spa day which includes a take home goody bag.
You can join them in helping to give young carers a break – put on an activity of your own!
If you’re still looking for inspiration on what you can do to give young carers a break, we’d love to hear from you. Email youngcarers@carers.org and we’ll get back to you with ideas on what you can do.

Sign the Young Carers Covenant
Another great way you can support young carers this Young Carers Action Day is to sign the Young Carers Covenant. It sets out ten key outcomes that are essential to improving the lives of young carers.
Signing the Covenant shows support for young carers, as well as a commitment to taking action towards making these outcomes a reality.
Any person or organisation in a position to help young carers can sign the Covenant.
