Janet was helped with her interview skills
The Working for Carers programme in London has helped carer Janet with her interview techniques.
About Janet
Janet is 57 years old and had cared for her parents for over 14 years before they passed away. She had had to leave her job and course to care for them.
How did Working for Carers help?
Since joining Working for Carers, Janet has accessed a range of workshops, for example confidence building and CV writing, and one-to-one support from her personal employment adviser. She found this particularly helpful for going through application forms, job searching and practising interview techniques. Janet has also been sent regular job opportunities.
What was the result?
Janet attended an interview for the first time since becoming a carer, and felt that she needed more support in this area to develop her confidence.
She also completed a temporary teaching assistant job via an agency sourced by her personal employment adviser, and is regularly applying for permanent roles with her adviser's support.
"It’s worth joining because it’s helpful no matter what line of work you are looking for.”
