Transforming lives: Short Breaks Scheme Conference

CymraegEnglish

Welcome to this one-day conference in celebration of the Short Breaks Scheme.

About this event

Thursday 3rd October at 10:00AM at Cardiff’s iconic Sophia Gardens Cricket Ground.

Transforming lives: Short Breaks Scheme Conference will celebrate the work of the Welsh Government-funded project enabling carers to take a well-deserved break.

We are delighted to announce that Carers Trust’s President, HRH The Princess Royal, will be at the conference. To show the importance she attaches to carers getting a break, Her Royal Highness will meet unpaid carers, as well as the delivery partners that have taken part in the Short Breaks Scheme so far.

This inspiring one-day conference will bring together carers and delivery partners with specialists from across the health and social care sector in Wales.

Attending means you will be able to connect with like-minded individuals and gain vital insights into how we can continue to work together to transform the lives of carers.

Carers reflect on the power of a well-deserved, short break

Carers share thoughts and photos of their short break and what it means to them. Their words highlight the power and positivity of taking a break from their caring role.

We were exhausted, smothered in worries, and had no time for anything or anyone, even each other. The thought of that break gave us something to look forward to, like your favourite dessert at the end of a plate of over-cooked sprouts.

I started caring for my dad when I was about 5 or 6. I don’t normally go out as much as other kids would. It can be quite hard. I like having breaks from reality sometimes.
