Carers Trust Wales worked with our Network Partners to bring together a group of young and young adult carers (aged 11-25) from across Wales.

At their initial meeting in October the group came up with their name - the Welsh Youth Carers Council - and set goals for the coming year, which included:

  • Raising awareness of young carers
  • Ensuring schools offer support to young carers
  • Having young carers voices heard

They also elected two of their members to the Welsh Youth Parliament, and will be offering their input and feedback to ensure that young and young adult carers’ voices from across Wales are represented on a national political level.

We are looking forward to working with the council to highlight and address the issues that affect young and young adult carers.
