In 2013, Carers Trust commissioned the University of Nottingham to undertake research to find out the experiences and aspirations of young adult carers in relation to school, further and higher education and work.

A report detailing the experiences of unpaid carers and carer service support workers in Scotland, throughout the COVID-19 pandemic. The report makes a series of recommendations and suggestions to support carer service support workers as they move out of the crisis phase of the pandemic.

Carers Trust is involved in a research project, 'Psychosocial support for promoting mental health and well-being among adolescent young carers in Europe'. It is also known as ‘ME-WE’. It's aim is to support the mental health, wellbeing and resilience of young carers. The project runs from January 2018–June 2021. This policy brief provides an overview of year one of the project.
Supporting Young Carers in Schools: A Step-by-step Guide for Leaders, Teachers and Non-teaching Staff
This resource has been written in association with teachers and school staff to help make the identification and support of young carers in schools as easy as possible. The Step-by-step Guide is for use in secondary and primary schools in England but could be easily adapted for use in the rest of the UK.
