Carers Trust Wales and the Royal College of Nursing have explored an adaptation of the Triangle of Care to meet the needs of carers of people with dementia in acute hospitals in Wales. The Triangle of Care describes a therapeutic relationship between the person with dementia (patient), staff member and carer that promotes safety, supports communication and sustains wellbeing.
The Triangle of Care for Young Carers and Young Adult Carers, A Guide for Mental Health Professionals
Following consultation, Carers Trust has developed the Triangle of Care for Young and Young Adult Carers, A Guide for Mental Health Professionals as a supplementary guide to sit alongside the Triangle of Care. The Triangle of Care describes a therapeutic relationship between the patient, staff member and carer that promotes safety, supports communication and sustains wellbeing.

This publication has been developed by Carers Trust Wales in partnership with all Reaching Wider partnerships, universities in Wales and UCAS. Designed with teachers and schools staff, the Young Carers in Schools Step-by-step Guide for Leaders, Teachers and Non-teaching Staff, helps make the identification and support of young carers in schools in primary and secondary schools in Wales as easy as possible. The Guide and tools are available in English and Welsh.
Invisible and in Distress: Prioritising the Mental Health of England's Young Carers
There are an estimated 700,000 young carers in the UK; people who are under 18 who help look after someone in their family, or a friend, who are ill, disabled or misuse drugs or alcohol. The report highlights recommendations based on discussions with young carers, sector leaders and young carers services in the Carers Trust network.
