Time to be Heard: A Call for Support for Young Adult Carers
Young adult carers are disadvantaged in their education, employment and wellbeing. These reports present evidence on the impact of caring unpaid for a family member or friend on the lives of young adult carers, using research carried out by the University of Nottingham. It represents the first large-scale survey of young adult carers aged 14-25. Reports cover England, Scotland and Wales.
Improving Health Outcomes for Older and Young Adult Carers
In 2011, Carers Trust was selected by People’s Health Trust to coordinate the delivery of health related projects managed by Carers Trust Network Partners across England, Scotland and Wales. An evaluation, casebook of projects and research into older carer's thoughts and feelings reflecting the impact of project activities delivered.
Time Away From Caring: Good Practice in Carer Breaks
Carers Trust developed this report and resources as part of the Health and Wellbeing Alliance, alongside Carers UK. The project, supported by the Department of Health and Social Care, looked at good practice in delivering carer breaks and using these good practice examples, in depth interviews with experts, developed Top Tips for commissioners and providers.
Experiences of Unpaid Carers caring for someone with Dementia
Carers Trust Wales’ report, ‘Experiences of unpaid carers caring for someone with dementia’, draws on the contextually rich narratives of carers of people living with dementia. Individual interviews were conducted during the pandemic.

COVID-19 In Scotland
A report detailing the experiences of unpaid carers and carer service support workers in Scotland, throughout the COVID-19 pandemic. The report makes a series of recommendations and suggestions to support carer service support workers as they move out of the crisis phase of the pandemic.
Together: A Whole Family Approach for Young Carers
Carers Trust Scotland is part of an Erasmus+ funded Together: A Whole Family Approach for Young Carers project, with partners based in Belgium, Germany, Greece and Italy. The project aims to raise awareness of young carers and to support them and their families.
Working With Further and Higher Education Providers: Top Tips
The Going Further, Going Higher project worked with four Carers Trust Network Partners across England to empower young adult carers with the skills and confidence to approach their colleges and universities to ask for recognition and support. This resource provides top tips when training young adult carer ambassadors and engaging with education providers.
No Longer Able to Care
This report highlights how older parent carers and ageing carers who face additional barriers to accessing services should be supported to prepare for a time when they are less able or unable to provide care. The report is accompanied by resources for commissioners, providers and front line staff to use in the development of support for carers to plan for a future when they are less able or unable to care.
