Young Carer Mental Health Toolkit
Carers Trust in Scotland has developed, with young carers, a new mental health toolkit for use with professionals working with young carers. The toolkit offers practical activities to generate discussions around topics which young carers identified as areas they wanted more information about, which include dealing with emotions, coping with exam stress, challenging negative thinking and tips around good sleep, relaxation and staying well.
Some of the activities can be carried out in groups or on one to one basis. The toolkit comes with full facilitator notes to help professionals carry out the activities and some ideas of other places to go to for further information or support.
