Research into unpaid carers in Wales who are from an ethnic minority

Carers from ethnic minorities in Wales face specific challenges. Amongst a number of other issues, carers from ethnic minorities:

  • Are less likely to be aware of support services.
  • Are less likely to access support services.
  • Need culturally appropriate service provision.
  • Do not have their voices heard strongly as other service-users.

Carers Trust Wales would like to understand these challenges in more depth. Tenders are invited for a small study into the experience of unpaid carers who live in Cardiff, Newport, Swansea and Wrexham and identify as being Asian or Asian British or Black or Black British.

The findings from this research will lead to the development of tools and resources for health and social care practitioners, and/or carers to help them access information, advice and assistance.
