Carers Trust is delighted to have the support of the players of People’s Postcode Lottery. Since 2017 we have received £1,050,000 from the Postcode Care Trust.

Supported by players of People's Postcode Lottery. Awarded funds from Postcode Care TrustThis support from the players of People’s Postcode Lottery will transform the help we can offer carers, providing grants to individuals and matching donations to kick-start vital projects.

An Extra Award to make a difference

In 2019, Carers Trust was lucky enough to receive an Extra Award from players to focus on loneliness. Many carers are particularly vulnerable to loneliness because their caring role often impacts on their ability to work or maintain friends and social contact.

With the award, our aim is to reduce loneliness and social isolation through peer support groups with a focus on carers of people with mental health issues or dementia, older carers, carers of veterans, lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender carers, black, Asian and minority ethnic carers and carers from rural areas.

We are thrilled to be supported by players of People’s Postcode Lottery. Three in five of us will become carers and anyone can become a carer at any point in their lives. It’s therefore vital that help and support are available when it is most needed. Some of the money raised by players will fund breaks for groups of carers, this is an excellent way to tackle loneliness among carers as well as helping them meet people with similar experiences.”

To celebrate the start of our partnership, carers from Care for Carers were joined by staff from People’s Postcode Lottery at Dynamic Earth where they received a cheque for £400,000 for the first year and said thank you to the players for their support.

We are so pleased that players will be helping to support the many carers working tirelessly in our communities. We look forward to working with Carers Trust in the coming months.”
