The Social Committee at Linc-Cymru Housing Association (Linc) have announced that they will be raising money this year for Carers Trust Wales, a charity that works across Wales to improve support, services and recognition for anyone living with the challenges of caring, unpaid, for a family member or friend.

Carers Trust Wales was chosen through a staff vote and the Linc team plan to run a range of fun activities including cake sales, tea-dances, challenge events, dress-down days and recycling initiatives. Linc’s Board of Management has also agreed to match-fund money raised by staff during the year.

Simon Hatch, Director of Carers Trust Wales, said “We are delighted to have been chosen by the staff of Linc. This means a great deal to us as it will help to not only raise funds, but raises the profile of the much needed services and support that we offer for all carers in our communities across Wales.

“There are currently over 370,000 carers in Wales alone, who provide unpaid support and care to family or friends who due to illness, disability, a mental health problem or an addiction cannot cope without their support. This partnership provides a perfect match as many of Linc’s tenants will also be carers and Linc already support carers through their own range of local services.”

The fundraising year is planned and organised by the Linc Social Committee who with the support of Linc staff, work hard to raise as much money as possible for the charity they support while having fun along the way.

Karen Davies, a member of Linc’s Social Committee said “Carers Trust Wales was suggested by a colleague who had first-hand experience of the support made available whilst caring for a family member. When the votes were counted, Carers Trust Wales was the clear winner.”

“We are looking forward to working with the Carers Trust Wales with our goal now being to organise regular fundraising activities throughout the whole year ahead.”
