Following the introduction of the Social Security (Scotland) Bill we have developed a questionnaire so that carers and former carers can give their views on the transfer of benefits to the Scottish Government.

The Social Security (Scotland) Bill was introduced to the Scottish Parliament at the end of June 2017.

Drawing on the information from last summer’s consultation, it makes provisions for the transfer of several social security benefits to the Scottish Government and provides a framework for how this will happen, which benefits will be transferred, and how the benefits will be administered.

Carer's Allowance is one of the benefits to be transferred, and this Bill also sets out how the increase to Carer's Allowance (to bring the payment in line with Jobseeker's Allowance) will be made to carers in Scotland. Carers Trust Scotland has developed the National Carer Organisations' Briefing on the Social Security (Scotland) Bill June 2017 (PDF 359KB).

Complete the questionnaire and give us your views

Carers Trust Scotland has also developed a questionnaire based on the Social Security Committee’s call for views .

If you are a carer or former carer who has experience of the social security system (including if the person you look/ed after receives Disability Living Allowance or Personal Independence Payment)  complete this questionnaire by 21 August 2017 and give your views.
