Saturday saw Carers Trust's first ever appearance on the football pitch, as shirt sponsors of Preston North End in their prestigious pre-season friendly versus Liverpool, which they sadly lost 4-0.

We are delighted that Carers Trust has been announced as the main shirt sponsor of Preston North End FC for the 2013/14 season.

Preston North End play in League One and were founding members of the English Football League in 1888.

An emotional day

Our Amassador  Carole Cochrane CBE and her husband Bill were guests of the club to mark this momentous occasion.

Carole said: "It was incredibly emotional seeing the Carers Trust brand on the North End shirts and when they said the crowd was an amazing 21,199 I couldn’t help wondering how many carers were there and how many more would have loved to watch the game given the chance — a fantastic opportunity to raise awareness of carers issues and to hopefully get more carers to future matches."

Reaching untold numbers of new carers

Thea Stein, CEO of Carers Trust said: “Three in five of us will be a carer at some point in our lifetime, and 10% of our population are carers today. Anyone who provides care for someone who could not cope without their support is a carer.

“Carers Trust are delighted that Preston North End and The Football Pools support the vital role that the UK’s unpaid carers play in our communities every day. That’s fans, supporters, officials at the Club and players, any of whom might be carers now, or could be in the future. The recognition that this will bring through awareness of this hidden issue is enormous and will help untold numbers of people feel comfortable about coming forward for support."
