Newry & Mourne Carers has received official confirmation of continued funding from their MacMillan partners for the next three years.

The funding is £120,000 in total and will match the £70,800 approved under the Carers Trust/Comic Relief Supporting Whole Families Programme. Everyone at the Centre is delighted that they will be able to support families throughout the area who have had the infliction of cancer visit their homes.

More good news for Newry & Mourne Carers is that is has just completed the successful acquisition of the Northern Ireland Franchise Licence for Leisure Leagues Limited – a large UK Sports Franchise.

They hope to run it as a social enterprise and recruit 14 other franchisees (mainly from the voluntary sector) to be part of the business model. The drive to become more self- sufficient is a challenge facing many small voluntary groups today. They are looking for possible recruits and are indebted to UCIT (Ulster Community Investment Trust) for putting the funding arrangements in place).
