A wide variety of gardens across England and Wales will open their gates to the public on 7-8 June for the second ever National Gardens Festival Weekend. Festival organiser The National Gardens Scheme is a long standing and generous supporter of Carers Trust, and will continue to offer that support in 2014 with a £350,000 grant.
With more than 500 openings planned over the two days, the festival aims to raise funds for nursing and caring charities, including Macmillan Cancer Support, Marie Curie Cancer Care and Carers Trust.
This unique festival of gardens includes:
- Urban gardens
- Formal country gardens
- Designer gardens
- Herb gardens
- Village ‘group gardens’
- Artists’ gardens
- Celebrity gardens
- and many more...
Some gardens may have special activities taking place, such as displays of art and sculpture collections, or live music. Nearly all offer delicious teas and cakes. Some have evening openings, serving wine.
