The Department of Health has launched part one of the consultation on the Draft Regulation and Guidance on the Care Act 2014.

The consultation will run for 10 weeks and closes on 15th August.

Carers Trust worked closely with Parliamentarians to campaign for changes to the Bill in Parliament and has been working to influence the initial drafts of the regulations and guidance as part of the Care and Support Alliance.

Carers Trust will be submitting a response to the consultation and will be meeting with officials from the Department of Health over the next few months to discuss the draft Regulations and Guidance as part of the Care and Support Alliance.

Carers and local carers organisations can help the guidance by responding to the consultation -  which will lay out how the new laws should work in practice.

It will be used by local authority officers to plan local care and support. The guidance can also be used by people using care and support, their families, charities and providers of care and support to help them understand the new system.

Carers Trust’s policy team is analysing the guidance and will shortly be sending out a Toolkit for local carers organisations   to support your response. The Toolkit will have more information about the consultation and how you can feed in. It will include updated briefings on the Care Act and a briefing on the key issues for carers and carers’ services within the regulations and guidance.

We are aiming to share this with Carers Trust Network Partners by the end of June we will email it directly to Network Partners and publish it here.
