Are you a Young Adult Carer? Do you want to make your voice heard? Would you benefit from some time away to focus on your future?

On Tuesday 23rd-Wednesday 24th June, we expect 120 Young Adult Carers from across the UK to be descending on the University of Wales, Trinity St David in Carmarthen for a short break like no other, and you are invited. The best bit is - it's FREE!

Carers Trust Wales’ Time to Be Heard campaign is about empowering and equipping Young Adult Carers to make their voices heard. The residential will be packed full of workshops, socialising, tasters and much more. There are so many reasons to come - but just to whet your appetite, here are the top 5 reasons to book now

1. Meet new people

When was the last time you were in a room with 120 other people that truly understand the challenges you face? A huge part of the residential will be about making new friends and building a support network of Young Adult Carers that can look out for one another and share their experiences.

2. Get some tips

We’ve got UCAS and Student Finance Wales on hand to provide you with invaluable advice about entering higher education. We know that University might be a daunting prospect, or even seem totally impossible, but we are going to provide advice and support to help make it a reality. Come along to find out how!

3. Try a slice of University life

You will be able to attend taster lectures from higher education in a number of different subjects, including Digital Media, Engineering, Philosophy, and much more. So, if you are exploring whether you want to study at university, we’re offering you the chance to get a feel for the type of work you can expect.

4. Let’s get political

On 7th May, a new UK Government was chosen in the General Election. But remember - a lot of the issues that affect Young Adult Carers in Wales are the responsibility of the Welsh Government, and we get to vote again next May in the National Assembly elections. We will be running a workshop on campaigning and activism to ensure you know how to make your voice heard.

5. Have a break…

…have a Kit-Kat - or better still, join in with our pub quiz, try your skills on the climbing wall, and treat yourself to a short break with a difference. You have a lot on your plate as a Young Adult Carer, and this is a chance for you to relax and have some much-deserved fun.

Keen? Book now to get involved!
