To mark Young Carers Action Day 2021 Carers Trust held a successful Bilateral Summit between the Scottish and Welsh Governments and young carers from both nations.
This Young Carers Action Day, a cross-party group of MPs are calling on all MPs to work together to protect young carers’ futures, the theme of this Young Carers Action Day.
In Wales there are at least 7,500 young carers. A young carer is someone aged 25 and under who cares for a friend or family member who due to illness, disability, a mental health problem or an addiction cannot cope without their support.
Carers Trust and young carers are calling on employers across the UK to recognise the special skills young people with caring responsibilities develop as part of their caring role, and how employers can do more to support young carers in bringing these skills to the workplace.
