Calling all young carers and people working with young carers

Applications for 2021 Social Mobility Foundation Programmes now open!

The Social Mobility Foundation  has contacted Carers Trust to ask us to promote its free programmes aimed at supporting young people from low-income backgrounds to access further education and professional training. It has specifically asked us to highlight its programmes to young carers and young adult carers.

So, if you are a young carer, a young adult carer, or a professional working with these groups – read on!

The Social Mobility Foundation supports ambitious young people from low-income backgrounds to access top universities and careers. It runs programmes which are completely free of charge and feature mentoring, internships with top companies, university application support, and professional development and skills workshops for high achieving young people across the UK.

The charity provides support in 11  professional sectors, including Law, Medicine and Accountancy. Students apply to join the programmes in Year 12 (England and Wales), Year 13 (Northern Ireland) and S5 (Scotland). Support continues from this point throughout university to help young people obtain graduate jobs.

The Social Mobility Foundation is also running free employer and sector insight programmes for students interested in Finance or Digital with J.P. Morgan, Accountancy with KPMG, Engineering with BP, Business and Sustainability with PA Consulting, Digital with Neil Stevens Fellowship, Law Insight and Medicine Insight (please note that the Medicine Insight is open to applications from English students only). Students receive a mentor, skills development workshops, university application advice, and if government guidance allows, a face-to-face internship in London.

Applications are now open. More information and the closing dates can be found on the Social Mobility Foundation website and on the 2021 Application Form.
