Carers Trust welcomes CEO of Northamptonshire Carers to its Board of Trustees

Mark Major Carers Trust

Carers Trust is delighted to announce the appointment of Mark Major to its Board of Trustees.

Mark has worked in the health and social care sector for more than 35 years. Beginning his career in frontline practitioner roles, he has led the team at the award-winning Northamptonshire Carers (a Carers Trust Network Partner) as CEO for the last two decades.

A carer himself, first for his father and now for his daughter who has autism, Mark brings a deep understanding of the challenges facing carers to the Trustee role.

Throughout his career, he has worked to make life better and fairer for carers, and to support the staff and volunteers who deliver vital services for them. Mark is also a champion for co-production and involving people with lived experience in decision-making and service design.

Mark is a founder and Trustee of the Voluntary Sector Assembly for Northamptonshire and holds several leadership roles within his local Integrated Care System.

Chair of Carers Trust, Dan Corry, welcomed Mark’s appointment to the Board saying:

“Mark will be an incredibly valuable addition to our Board. Strengthening the voice of people who deliver frontline carer services in our Board discussions will help us to have an even greater impact on carers’ lives.

"Mark brings a wealth of professional knowledge and expertise to the role, alongside vital personal experience of the reality of caring. He has himself been a young carer, an adult carer and a parent carer.

“On behalf of my fellow Trustees, I would like to warmly welcome Mark to the Carers Trust Board. I look forward to working with him to transform the lives of carers across the UK.”
