Carers must not pay the price for abolition of NHS England

Commenting on the Government's announcement it will abolish NHS England, Carers Trust's CEO, Kirsty McHugh, said:

"It is vital that unpaid carers don’t end up paying the price for yet another significant overhaul of the way our NHS is run."

"Carers are the ones who are plugging the gaps of our crumbling social care system and overstretched health service."

"In recent years, NHS England has played a crucial role in seeking to help carers be identified, involved and supported in primary care, hospitals and community services across the country."

"This is a vital function that must not be lost during the transition or in the new structures that emerge. Otherwise, local carer services and the people they support will be left to pick up the pieces."
