Carers enjoy respite at a beautiful Sussex garden through the National Garden Scheme
A group of carers from East Sussex that are part of our Network Partner local carer centre, Care For The Carers, enjoyed a well-earned break from their caring role. The carers visited the stunning garden at Butler’s Farmhouse which is part of the National Garden Scheme.
Carers can experience an incredible amount of pressure and stress so being able to take a break in gardens can be very beneficial to their mental wellbeing.
When visiting Butler’s Farmhouse, carers said how therapeutic it was being in the garden. Carer David Moss when speaking about the health benefits of the garden visit, said:
“A couple of years ago, I had blood pressure issues and hypertension so for me personally it’s important for me to get relaxation and things like this are ideal for relieving stress.”
Watch the carers enjoy taking a break in the lovely Sussex garden, hear why days like these are so important for carers' mental health and what the National Garden Scheme does to support carers.
Thank you to the National Garden Scheme for offering this day out for the carers and the garden owner, Irene Eltringham-Wilson for hosting a fantastic day as well as Care For The Carers for helping to organise the visit.
National Garden Scheme have been a great supporter of carers for many years. The proceeds of their garden visits go towards supporting carers through Carers Trust. You can support carers while enjoying a great day out in beautiful gardens, visit a National Garden Scheme open garden near you.
