Carers Trust welcomes Miriam Martin and Anne Tran as Board Observers
Carers Trust has welcomed Miriam Martin and Anne Tran to the newly-created roles of Board Observers.
The roles will see them regularly attend board meetings and advise board members on their areas of expertise.
Miriam Martin is the CEO of Caring Together, part of Carers Trust’s network of local carer organisations. Caring Together is one of 23 Network Partners delivering regulated support services.
In 2021, she became the inaugural Chair of Carers Trust Regulated Partners Forum, which shares peer learning and information. She has more than 20 years’ experience of leadership and service delivery in the charity sector and will bring a wealth of insight to the role.
Miriam Martin said:
“I’m delighted to have been appointed as an observer to the Carer’s Trust board. Having been the chief executive of Caring Together, a network partner, for a number of years and a carer myself, I have experienced first hand the enormous challenges carers face. I want to use my knowledge and experience to work with Carers Trust to ensure that the contribution of carers is recognised and valued, that services deliver real impact and that the voices of carers are heard.”
Also joining is Anne Tran, a committed supporter of Carers Trust and a former member of Carer’s Trust’s Youth Advisory Panel who currently works as an analyst in development finance.
Anne’s professional background in parliamentary research and youth engagement makes her a perfect fit for her Board Observer role. She will also be the board link to the Youth Advisory Panel.
Anne Tran said:
“I had the opportunity to work with Carers Trust with the Youth Advisory Panel on policy issues impacting young carers. In this role, I hope to be the bridge between the Youth Advisory Panel and the Board to create more awareness and understanding around the struggles that young carers face, which is often unseen and unheard by many. I want to bring this forward and reflect more on what we can do to improve the lives of young carers and carers as a whole.”
