Carers Trust strengthens its Board of Trustees

Carers Trust is delighted to announce the appointment of two new trustees to its Board.

Jennifer Twist is the Chief Executive of Care for the Carers, a carer charity representing and supporting unpaid carers in East Sussex. It is also a member of Carers Trust’s network of over 120 local carers organisations across the UK.

She has over 15 years’ experience of working with carers, partners and stakeholders to champion carers’ rights, as well as to achieve the services and support carers need, and deserve. She has a track record in leading impactful services, engagement and partnership work.

Throughout her career Jennifer has specialised in caring, having worked in both the voluntary and commercial sectors. She has retained a focus on supporting unpaid carers as well as delivering regulated care services for older people.

She is a former carer, with an in depth understanding of the impact juggling care and work can have. This has given her a longstanding commitment to improving the experience of caring.

Rhys Moore is an experienced campaigner and leader in the social sector.

He helped build the UK’s Living Wage movement as founding Director of the Living Wage Foundation. He currently works as Executive Director for Public Impact at the National Housing Federation, representing England’s not-for-profit housing associations. His work has focussed on issues of social justice, poverty and changing public perceptions.

Growing up in North Wales, Rhys was a young carer to his mum. He is passionate about ensuring the right support is in place for carers to live full lives.

Rhys has been a non-executive board member of the London Community Foundation, Cambridge House (a London-based centre fighting social inequality) and Sir George Monoux College.

Welcoming Jennifer and Rhys to the Board, Carers Trust’s Chair, John McLean OBE, said:

“I am delighted to welcome Jennifer and Rhys on to the Board. They both bring a wealth of experience gained in senior leadership roles, as well as a passion for supporting unpaid carers and campaigning for better support. On behalf of my fellow trustees I would like to welcome them to Carers Trust, and am very much looking forward to working with them.”
