Carers Trust is delighted to announce the appointment, effective today, of Chris Koehli MBE to its Board of Trustees. Chris is already the Chair of the Carers Trust Wales Advisory Board.
Chris is a highly experienced accountant who has worked in both the public and private sectors in England and Wales. Throughout his career his principal focus has been working to ensure better access to healthcare and public services for disadvantaged groups of people.
In recent years Chris has held a number of non-executive directorships within health, housing, social care and voluntary organisations. He has also chaired a housing association and a care and support company.
In addition to his strong leadership experience, Chris also brings to the Carers Trust Board of Trustees a passion for ensuring unpaid carers are properly supported, and a commitment to ensuring they have a voice in the delivery of health and social care. Chris has recently chaired both the Cardiff Carers Centre and the Greater Gwent Partnership Carers Board. His support for unpaid carers was recognised in 2018 when he was awarded the MBE for services to carers and healthcare in Wales.
Outside professional life, Chris enjoys spending time with his wife, four grown up children and nine grandchildren. His interests include sport, travel, music and cinema.
Welcoming Chris to the Board, Carers Trust Chair, John McLean OBE, said:
“I am thrilled we have managed to attract someone of Chris’s calibre and leadership experience to the Carers Trust Board. As well as professional acumen, Chris brings exceptional governance experience and a real commitment to supporting unpaid carers. On behalf of my fellow trustees, I would like to extend a very warm welcome to Chris, and I very much look forward to working with him.”
