Programme Officer (Amser) Short Breaks Scheme

Carers Trust is currently recruiting for a Programme Officer to join our new Short Breaks Team supporting the delivery of an exciting new scheme providing short breaks for unpaid carers across Wales

This new role is an opportunity to be part of a new and vibrant programme, delivering the first Short Breaks scheme for Wales. Funded by Welsh Government, the Short Breaks Fund is worth £9m and aims to reach 30,000 unpaid carers in Wales with creative and flexible short breaks by 2025.

We’re looking for a dynamic and skilled individual to work on the Amser programme, a new Wales-wide short breaks grant scheme for the third sector.

Our ideal candidate will have some experience of involvement in or delivering grants programmes and knowledge and/or understanding of the Welsh third sector delivering for unpaid carers in order to be able to:

  • Act as the first point of contact for queries relating to the Amser programme.
  • Work with a panel of Independent Assessors to undertake regular assessment of applications received from Third Sector organisations developing short breaks services to support unpaid carers across Wales.
  • Provide ongoing grant management support to Amser funded organisations including the review of monitoring information and conducting monitoring visits.

This is a fixed term role until 31 March 2025. The successful postholder will be recruited at Grade E, which is £33,557 in 2023-24.
