Newcastle Carers is an independent charity working citywide in Newcastle upon Tyne to provide confidential information, advice and support to adult carers who are looking after a friend or family member who is ill, disabled, has mental ill health or is misusing drugs or alcohol. We have been supporting carers for over ten years and work to improve the quality of life for unpaid carers in Newcastle.
What is a carer?
A carer is anyone who provides unpaid support to a family member or friend who is ill, disabled, has mental health problems or is misusing drugs or alcohol, and couldn't manage without their help.
We can work with you to help you find the information you need to care for someone and can inform you about other services to help you to look after yourself and the person you care for.
Our main ventre base is on Shields Road in Byker, Newcastle upon Tyne, and at our centre we provide a range of information and support services. We also provide drop-in information and advice sessions and Carer Cafés around Newcastle city, including the areas of Gosforth, Lemington, and the West End of Newcastle.
