Free and discounted TV licences

If you’re 74 or older and you or your partner receive Pension Credit you can apply for a free TV Licence. This will cover everyone who lives with you at the same address. The TV licence needs to be in the name of the eligible person. If it is not in their name, it can easily be changed by calling TV Licensing on 0300 790 6112 to transfer their name onto the existing licence.

If you, or someone you live with, is 74 or older and receives Pension Credit you can apply for a TV licence but it must be in the eligible individual's name. You can also get a discounted licence if you, or someone you live with, are registered blind or severely sight impaired. The licence must be in the eligible individual’s name.

You might be able to get a 50% discount if you’re registered blind or severely sight impaired, or if you live with someone who is (the licence must be in the blind or severely sight impaired person’s name so you will need to call TV Licensing on 0300 790 6112 to transfer their name onto the existing licence).
