Helena cared for her mother full time for three years until her mother's death. At the time Helena was helping with her mother's care, medicine, food and providing general support.
Helena wanted help with job searching, to get ready to enter the job market after an absence of three years.
How did Working for Carers help?
Helena was given regular one-to-one support and mentoring by her employment personal adviser, helping her to improve her CV and prepare a cover letter and helped her build up her confidence. Helena also attended the Working for Carers employability workshops and other skills workshops.
She was also supported to find additional information about different companies where she could search for potential roles which would meet her career objectives, goals and personal interests.
What was the result?
Helena applied for a number of positions and finally secured the full-time permanent position of Business Administrator at her local carers service.
