Pet care in an emergency

There are organisations that help if you, or the person you care for, need help to look after a pet.

The Cinnamon Trust

The Cinnamon Trust is a charity that helps older people keep their pets.  Their volunteers provide care for pets including:

  • Daily dog walking
  • Pet fostering if the owner goes into hospital
  • Help to clean out animals and fetch food and bedding from the shop
  • Looking after a pet if the owner dies.

If you, or the person you care for, would like help from The Cinnamon Trust contact them to make arrangements before you need their help.

They can also help if the person you care for moves into a care home.  They have a Pet Friendly Care Home Register that lists care homes and retirement housing happy to accept residents with pets.
