Day 10 –Mecca Care O’clock carers parties
On 28 October 2017, Mecca clubs across the UK hosted carers parties for up to ten carers as part of the Care O’clock campaign, which is a reminder that as the clocks go back in October we should think about giving that extra hour (or more if we can!) to carers who can struggle to get time off from their caring role. 11 Mecca clubs took part, hosting parties for 73 carers in all. Carers were offered a box of chocolates as it was National Chocolate Day, a free game of bingo, plus food and drink.
A group of carers from Blackpool Carers Centre had a great time at the party organised by Mecca Blackpool Talbot Road.
A big thank you to the staff who ensured they had a good night as carers don’t often have a treat or time away from their caring roles.”
I didn’t realise we were to each receive a lovely cute tin of Quality Street and be entered into a draw for a years’ supply of chocolate. The Mecca had decorated our table with helium balloons and the manager Paul was very attentive even though it was a very busy Saturday night ... Bless him, he couldn’t do enough for us.”
