“We are disappointed that the Chancellor has failed to tackle the social care funding crisis in this Budget. Despite the existing £2.5 billion funding shortfall, nothing is being done to address this.
“For the 5.5 million carers in England, this means they will continue to pick up more caring responsibilities when many are already near breaking point.
“Carers Trust is still reeling after the Government’s announcement last week regarding the Green Paper for social care reform. The announcement of the focus on older people, and the delay until next summer to even begin the process, left carers in England – whether they are young adult carers, working-age carers, or older carers – waiting for a clear plan to the social care crisis which meets their needs as carers, as well as the needs of the people they care for.
“All in all, it has been a doubly disappointing week for unpaid carers.”
