Payroll giving provides us with regular income; this helps us plan for the long term and means that we can continue to reach out to more of the 7 million unpaid carers in the UK.
A payroll giving pledge of £5 per month costs the basic rate tax payer just £4 and we receive the full £5 pledged, as the tax man pays the rest (£3 if you pay higher-rate tax).
Payroll giving is a fast, straightforward and tax efficient way for employees to support unpaid carers.
It is also known as 'give as you earn' or 'workplace giving'.

How does it work?
You decide how much you would like to donate from your monthly salary, your donation is taken from your pay on the same day each month, and we also receive the tax on your donation without you incurring any additional cost.

Pennies from Heaven
Just under 2,000 employees at The Rank Group Plc (owners of Mecca Bingo and Grosvenor Casino) have signed up to donate through the Pennies from Heaven initiative. The Rank Group was one of 13 companies to receive the Pennies from Heaven Gold Award this year.
Pennies from Heaven is such an easy way to donate without you even noticing! Carers more than deserve to be looked after and it is wonderful to know that our pennies can contribute in making a huge difference to a number of lives. Carers devote their lives to others and we can help by just donating our pennies, it’s simple really. It’s more than just a lucky penny to some, it can be life changing.”
AJ Foronda, Assistant Brand Manager at the Rank Group
Employees sign up once and from then on their salary is rounded down to the nearest £1 each month with the extra pennies donated to charity. Anyone can sign up to this scheme, email our Fundraising team to find out more.
