People’s Postcode Lottery ambassador Danyl will be joining the group of 40 carers for a singalong, to hear about the demands of their caring roles and to gain valuable insight into the support they receive at their local Carers Trust Thames centre.
This year, Carers Trust received £400,000 from Postcode Care Trust, which is supported by players of People’s Postcode Lottery, to help the charity provide advice, financial support and a much-needed break from their caring responsibilities at home with respite care.
And as part of this incredible partnership with People’s Postcode Lottery, Danyl will be popping by for a cuppa to find out about the work of Carers Trust.
Danyl said: “One of the highlights of my job is meeting the charities that are supported by players of People’s Postcode Lottery and I’m really grateful to Carers Trust for inviting me to this special event to perform. The charity works hard to help those who provide unpaid care to loved-ones and I’m really interested in hearing from people, of all ages, about the difference that Carers Trust has made to their lives.”
Giles Meyer, CEO of Carers Trust, said: “Being a carer is one of the toughest jobs there is, so we are extremely grateful for the incredible support we have received from People’s Postcode Lottery this year.
“This visit from Danyl Johnson really is the icing on the cake for the carers at their afternoon tea. It gives them a wonderful boost and much-needed break from the demands of their caring roles at home.
“The reality is that three in five of us will become carers at some point in our lives, and with seven million carers in the UK already, this funding plays a crucial part in helping us to provide the support carers so desperately need.”
Danyl became a People’s Postcode Lottery Street Prize presenter in 2015, delivering cheques to lucky winners on their doorstep.
Danyl has been a friend of People’s Postcode Lottery for many years, having performed at several Postcode Millions events and wowing the crowds of lucky winners, following his finalist position in X Factor 2009.
