Half spend over four hours a day caring for family – the equivalent of a whole week.
Nearly three quarters (72 per cent) of young carers feel lonely during the summer holidays, according to worrying new research¹ released today by Action for Children and Carers Trust.
Carers Trust has chosen eight innovative projects supporting young carers across England to receive £455k funding provided by the Department of Education.
Commenting on the absence of a White Paper on Social Care in the Queen’s Speech to Parliament, Anne Roberts, Chief Executive of Carers Trust, said:
Many unpaid carers struggle on for years looking after sick or disabled family members or friends without help, according to research from the new leading carers’ charity Carers Trust.
