College and university work in Scotland

Carers Trust Scotland estimates that there are around 30,000 - 35,000 unpaid carers attending college or university in Scotland. Every single one of them have the right, and deserve the opportunity, to be heard and valued, and to have access to support, advice and resources to enable them to live fulfilled lives.

Over the years we have worked with, colleges, universities, and other important national stakeholders such as Scottish Funding Council, College Development Network, UCAS and Student Awards Agency for Scotland (SAAS) to achieve these ends.

Throughout this section of our website you will find a range of useful information, tools and resources that can be used by staff and students alike. Please take advantage of these!

We hope that these help students and staff at colleges and universities across Scotland to help transform the lives of unpaid carers. These resources contribute to making sure that students with unpaid caring responsibilities have access to further and higher education, stay in education, maintain positive health and wellbeing, and have access to the support they need to successfully complete their studies and have a positive experience.
