Carers Rights Day 2023

Thursday 23 November 2023 is Carers Rights Day.

Each year Carers Rights Day provides an invaluable opportunity for both organisations and individuals to raise awareness of unpaid carers and caring.

It is also a day for raising awareness of the importance of identifying unpaid carers – whatever their age – so they can be supported and directed to the information, advice and support they need to carry on caring while living a fulfilled life.

Whatever the stage they are at on their caring journey, it’s important unpaid carers understand their rights so they can find appropriate support whenever they need it.

These rights include the right to an assessment of their needs as a vital first step towards being able to access the right kind of support. They also include the right to a respite break from their caring role when they need it.

Watch this video and listen to carers of all ages, as well as people working to support carers, explain why rights for carers are so important.
