If you, or the person you care for, are 75 or over make sure you apply for a free TV licence.

You need a TV licence to watch or record live TV on any channel and to download or watch any BBC iPlayer. Check if you need one on the TV licensing website.

Free TV licences

You can apply online for a free TV licence if you are 75 or older on the TV licensing website. You can also apply by phone: 0300 790 6071 (minicom: 0300 709 6050).

Discounted TV licences

If you are blind or in residential care you can get a discount on your TV licence.

If you live in residential care you can get a much cheaper special licence as long as you are disabled or retired and over 60.

If you, or the person you live with, are registered blind you can get a TV licence for half price. You will need to prove that you qualify. Find out more on get a free or discounted TV licence on Gov.uk.
