You, or the person you care for, may get a Cold Weather Payment if you get certain benefits.

For a payment to be made the temperature where you live must be very cold (below 0 degrees Celsius) for a week or longer during winter (November to March).

Cold Weather Payment is available across the UK (England, Wales, Scotland and Northern Ireland).

You may get Cold Weather Payments if you get:

  • Pension Credit
  • Income Support
  • Income-based Jobseeker’s Allowance
  • Income-related Employment and Support Allowance
  • Universal Credit
