Carers Trust Wales is part of Carers Trust, an ambitious national charity committed to improving support and services for unpaid carers. Carers Trust Wales aims to shape a better future with and for carers in Wales by raising awareness, empowering carers and influencing change.
We work closely and collaboratively with our Network Partners – local and regional independent charities which deliver information, advice and practical support for unpaid carers in Wales. Last year our Network Partners reached more than 36,000 carers in Wales.
About carers in Wales
We know that there are at least 310,000 carers in Wales and that 3 in 5 of us will become a carer at some point in our lives.
Carers Trust Wales is committed to making sure that all carers receive the recognition and support they deserve.
Unpaid Carers in Wales and Access to Financial and Statutory Support: a report from Carers Trust Wales
We believe that no carer should be pushed into poverty by their caring role. Our report addresses the challenge of financial hardship in the context of wider unpaid carer support, and aims to understand the implementation of Welsh policy by local authorities alongside work by the UK Government.
Short Breaks Scheme
Unpaid carers can apply for a short, funded break away from their caring role. The Short Breaks Scheme aims to allow 30,000 carers to take a break by 2025.
Carers Support Fund
Additional support services and grant funding is now available to unpaid carers in every local authority area, thanks to the Carers Support Fund.
The Carer Aware Project
This joint project is funded by the Welsh Government and aims to empower unpaid carers to be actively involved in decisions that directly affect them and those they care for.
Young carers and education
Caring impacts so many aspects of a young person's experience in school or college. Education settings can play a crucial role in identifying and supporting young carers, and our resources will help.
Policy and influence
Carers Trust Wales works proactively to influence policy, legislation and commissioning processes for the benefit of carers and our Network Partners.
The Network in Wales
We partner with local care organisations, collaborating to ensure unpaid carers across Wales receive access to high-quality services and support.
Fundraising
With your help, we can make a real difference to the lives of unpaid carers in Wales. Whether you're looking for your organisation's next corporate partnership, or you're hoping to organise or take part in a fundraising event, find ways to support our work.
