Hi, looking for one of these, many websites of course but has anyone bought one from somewhere that 1/wasn't too dear, 2/gave good service, 3/gave option of return.
Electric best bet and my Mummy small so would have to probably be measured else request a petite size.
Thanks for any info.

Re: Riser Recliner Chairs
Tue 16 Sep 2008 19:14hello funkyfur
we got ours from Willowbrook - in hindsight though it was a "hard sell" by the salesman and I would recommend asking a professional like an OT if you have one.Otherwise just ring around a view you find online. You will probably find that most won't giv e a quote online as they like to come to your home - we have had that problem while investingating adjustamatic beds!!
Good luck (sorry I wasn't much help)

Tue 16 Sep 2008 19:37My sister found Mum's on the net, very easy to use and think it was the boston style but reclines and bring her to standing motion.
Think had it two yrs and just replaced the hand control, poss from being dropped broke the circuit but wasn't too bad £36 for a new one

Re: Riser Recliner Chairs
Tue 16 Sep 2008 21:02Dad has one that we got via our OT (she said they don't suit everyone and good idea to check before you buy) when he came out of hospital. SS paid for it but if they hadn't our OT was going to contact British Legion to see if they would as Dad had been in the Army from their benevolent funds...

Re: Riser Recliner Chairs
Thu 18 Sep 2008 18:11I was once quoted a price of a chair for over eighteen hundred pounds, i found out that if i bought it direct from the factory i could have got it for about 750 quid, the companies who sell these types of things try to make a huge profit, i once heard of a person paying nearly five thousand pounds for a bed when in fact the bed was worth about 1400 quid at the most, make sure you do your research well, get lots of advice from various people, whatever one does do not trust the actual salesman.

Re: Riser Recliner Chairs
Sat 20 Sep 2008 21:46i know through personal experience that in some areas social services supply these chairs,BEWARE when purchasing such chairs privately as i found out if the user is prone to pressure sores the nhs will not supply the costly pressure cushions, you have to buy them yourself and you may need to try several before finding the right one, BUT if the chair is supplied by social services the correct pressure cushion will be supplied free of charge.
so please before purchasing the chair and they are great take into account the risk of future pressure sores.

Wed 24 Sep 2008 13:48Should all else fail take a look for a freecycle site it may be a long shot but many unwanted/needed things can be found there.

Re: Riser Recliner Chairs
Fri 26 Sep 2008 22:31When I purchased dads rise and recline from the local furniture store (the boston model) the salesman told me if the chair is for the sole use of a disabled person then the sale should be VaT exempt.
Take care

Re: Riser Recliner Chairs
Sat 27 Sep 2008 19:20The company we got ours off reduced the price cost but as long as you buy new then it should be VAT exempt. We are about to buy an adjustamatic bed and that is also exempt-you pay then they give you a form to send off to claim back the vat.
