Would the PRTC give their support to the
growing number of people on various carers boards, including CUK, who are trying to arrange some kind of protest on behalf of carers.
Also would any member here by interested?
thank you

i think we should have done something like this ages ago Krys. I hope the various sites support the idea.
I would like to know what the gov intend to do for Carers in their carer stategy first, but if the concensus of our opinion is bad,as I expect it to be,then watch out Gordon our ire is up!!!! Yes emoticon
So long as the march doesnt coincide with a much looked forward to holiday,I will be there with Caree which will be very difficult, but very necessary!

I would like to see this protest suceed, but the lack of demonstrable support from PRTC and CUK is lamentable.

If, as I suspect, they are worried that a public display of unrest will reflect badly upon them, then can I suggest we all adopt the views/proposals suggested in their several submissions published recently?

I know you cant please all of the people all of the time, and I for one dont entirely agree with all thats said, but basically be all have similar bones to pick with various departments of this government.

Can I further suggest the march/walk/demo takes in DWP and DH HQs amongst other worthy targets?

I know some would regard this as a U-Turn coming from me, but heck, they are in fashion now!

Yes this protest has to be a good thing, weather or not it can or will be supported by the charities, either way if we all rally together anything is possible

Surely to "all rally together" it would require CUK and PRTC to wholeheartedly and unreservedly back this to the hilt?

Otherwise were is the solidarity?

All the independent forums are talking about it and the idea is growing.
it would be nice if we had some feedback from the PRTC on if they are thinking of backing it and if not, why not.

yes Ian I agree it would be a lot better if PRTC and Carersuk endorsed and got involved, but if they chose not to or can`t for any reason it does not mean it can`t be done

I have posted this reply on CUK & carerwatch

I agree that something needs to be done, but I cant afford to get to London and pay child care costs, also another problem I'd encounter is my OH's epilepsy - as his sz are uncontrolled and come without warning I might not be able to get there on the day, even if I could afford it.

Would it be possible for carers to organise a protest, on the same day, at the same time in their town, for those that want to take part but are unable to get to London for the main march?

thank you for your replies, and greywolf, i think that is an excellent idea.

it is going to take a lot of planning, but we
have to keep on keeping on, and pray this time
we can go ahead and do this in some form or another.

Hi Grey wolf
Yes this is why it is being talked about across all forums, there will be a lot of carers that can`t get to London, so 1 of the ideas could be a day of protests nationwide, get as muche media attention up and down the country, as is possible, please everyone keep suggestions and coments going.

Hi everyone,

Have just been reading through the many posts on this on other forums.. and will pass your thoughts and ideas for a campaign / protest on to our acting chief exec. At the moment our main focus is on what will come out of the new Carers Strategy.. but the Trust will lend it's support in any way it can to carer-led initiatives like this.
