Help for Mental Health problems

I don't know if its just me but I feel I do not receive adaquate help for my mental health problems. I have been in and out of hospital for the last 5 years and im only 24. I have been assigned a care-coordinator who is supposed to co-ordinate my care. She says that she'll send me an appointment through the post but she never does. Everytime i ring the community team they say she is unavailable. I was assigned to a doctor i relly felt didnt understand me so i asked to change over to another one. I felt this was within my rights but i was felt to feel like i was being 'difficult'. Im not suicidal but this has really pushed me off the edge. They are supposed to help not hinder. Anyone out there with similar problems?

I don't have a mental health problem but my son does. The mental health services in my area are very good. So can't help there. But might I suggest you log onto Rethink, which is a charity for people suffering mental health problems& their families. Someone on there may be of help.

Good luck. Sounds like you need some.

hi jade it is really frustrating putting it mildly when one suppose to help and they do nothing and one when calls they seem always out.
.As mentioned you can give rethink a call or click at the top of this page under help for carers - scroll down to links there are many organisations / sites who you can look at that will help also across the page there is info there that will help as well so I hope you soon get the help you need all the best coffee Drink emoticon

best way for them to come out is to go through their main office, eg a duty office or conact centre and request an appointment or something, if it is a new request it is logged on their computer and has to be followed up rather than a phone call which is jotted down on an pad and overlooked.

If you have care you have to have a review once a year under the community care act 1990. if the person is not listening to you get your care support to phone the team manager also.
