Oh your post threw me- i thought you were mr tumble off the telly when i read the title lol.
Ive not heard of signalong but would be interested in knowing what the difference is between that and makaton.
I always used makaton with mine and they use pecs at school.
maybe the internet would help you find something out if you google it?

my lad used makaton but apparently signalong is the new sign language they are starting to use it has far more signs that makaton is meant to be better in the long run as the child grows up we will see i have just learnt makaton so i am not impressed at them changing it all now surely it will be confusing as many of the simple signs as in hello etc is thumbs up which is good in makaton Sad emoticon so i am getting confused already with it all so lets see how i go on and i will let you know Smile emoticon

Hi Mr Tumble

Just found a site which might be useful to you:

The Signalong Group

www.signalong.org.uk

Apparently Signalong is based on British Sign Language - so maybe that is why they have switched over.

I only know the few signs they use at my sons special needs youth club and they confuse me enough!!!

Good luck!!! Smile emoticon Smile emoticon

Sounds like it may be ok for the more able children if it is based on BSL as that is pretty complicated (I did level one and two).
My boys use Makaton at their school and struggle with the motor skills needed so doubt they would be able to cope with this signalong.
However, ill have a look at that site anyway....
