Holidays for carers and their families:a survey

A while ago, we started a thread about the need for carers and their families to have a holiday which is a proper break for all those concerned. We realised that many families find that they need a holiday to recover!!!
We have created a survey to help us with our plans to address this difficulty.
We need your help!!
Please follow the link, take 15 minutes to fill in the survey, and send it to us with your thoughts and ideas.
We look forward to hearing from you.

hello all
whats going on with carers holiday grants ?
our child who is 17
around 10 years ago we were told to go to CARERS
for help and advice so we did and were told we do not deal with children
i was dismissed like a school boy BELIVE ME THAT’S WHAT IT FELT LIKE !
The last year we were told to apply for a holiday grant
Personally I would not of
But we did in the end we were told we could have a break in BLACKPOOL
And yet again turned away they asked who told us about the break it was our social worker
There and then she phoned up s/s and told them to pass on to ALL social workers not to refer any one to them !
which we found very alarming
Well 2 months or more ago we received a letter from school asking us to go down to out local CARERS to apply for a break again !
I never went but my wife did
As my wife tells me as they were filling out the forms the person in the centre stopped filling in the form and said that’s all is needed but my WIFE found it all a little suspicious
And now I`m a little suspicious as yet again 2 months went by with not a word from them so she phoned up to ask of any news ONCE AGAIN WE WERE TERNED DOWN I WANT TO KNOW WHY ?
Also when she pulled out our records
SHE SPOKE ABOUT A GRANT WE HAVE NOT APPLIED FOR !!!!!!!!
When we asked why was this she quickly asked could she phone us back she did in 15 min, later
I find it alarming that someone could be cliaming grants on our behalf
Hence why we have NEVER RECIVED ANYTHING FROM THEM!
( SO WHAT I WOULD LIKE TO IS HOW EASY IT IS TO APPLY FOR A GRANT THE TO GIVE IT TO A FRIEND /FAMILY
I WON`T KNOW AND YOU WON`T
SAD TO SAY WE ALL SEE IT ON T.V.AND IN PAPERS PEOPLE CLAIMING MONEYS WHO ARE NOT ENTITLED TO IT
IT STILL GOES ON TODAY AND WILL ALWAYS GO ON !

Many thanks conner

I guess I'm one of the lucky ones as I did get a grant to go on holiday last month through Carers while my husband stayed at home. He's not very good at travelling & I hate to admit it but I find it too much of a strain when we have gone away. Last year I went away with my sister while Brian went into respite. The cost of that for two weeks was £760 which was more than my holiday cost. I expected to pay something but not that much & I doubt I'll not be having many more breaks.
