Mobility Problems 2!

Hi I am new to this forum, but just wanted to highlight a subject that has been discussed before.
It is about no Mobility component for people in receipt of AA, therefore all over 65'S!!!
As well as age discrimination, I find the whole thing disgusting & unjust. Therefore I have set up a group on Facebook called Mobility For My Mum. Please read it & join. I will be contacting MP's etc as soon as I am able.
Your comments are appreciated. Thanks x

I can totally agree with you about the problem of not having the ability to get mobility if you become disabled after you reach the age of 65.
My wife began struggling with her walking and we managed to get a blue badge in 2005 and by this time she was 68 years old and it was only when she got to the age of 71 that I was able to claim Attendance Allowance for her and had the problems of not being able to get the mobility component as a person under 65 was able to claim.
The thing that is wrong is the fact that with the need of a wheelchair or scooter to get round she needs access to a car more today than she did say 10 years ago.
With her being able to get out and about herself then there was no need to put in for these benefits.
The thing that really bugs me is if you were disabled before the age of 65 with something that you are struggling with now over the age of 65 you would be able to get mobility even if you were 80 years old.
Do they think that somebody over the age of 65 does not want to get out when they reach this age despite the fact that they were able to get out before they became disabled.
If you become disabled over the age of 65 then you should have the same rights as somebody who became disabled younger.
I am right behind you as it is very costly trying to run a car when you are on benefits where as if you have mobility you are able to get a new car every 3 years and all the perks associated with this.
Rant over.

Thanks hal. Even if you dont use Facebook (or if you do) be sure to join my group which also has a link to a petition to 10 Downing Street about this very matter.
Once again thank you for your comments. Will it be ok to use them when (of if) I get to speak to my MP?
