car stickers for wheelchair users

My husband is a recent amputee, soon to be released (sorry, discharged) from hospital. We are a bit new to all the problems associated with wheelchairs.

Anyone know where I can get one of those car stickers that asks people not to park near the car so that we can get my husband's wheelchair close to the car door?

Also, where do we get a RADAR key?

Thanks

Froggy

Try typing Radar key into google & go onto their website, it'll tell you how to go about it.

We got our Radar key from our Local Borough Council, and the sticker from the local disability aids shop. You can also buy both on Ebay. Don't expect the sticker to make any difference - nobody takes a blind bit of notice of them. Using disabled bays is the best way round that problem. If there are none available I get my hubby out of the car and then park. Its a pain but needs must.

Lynn

That was lucky for you. We were informed that we had to go to Radar to get one.

Froggy, here is the web address
www.radar.org.uk

Click on Radar shop and you will get the details

I see they charge too Hal, our BC hand them out free - you just complete a form giving disability details etc.

They don't hand them out round here. Our nurse contacted them about it and therefore gave us the radar address.

Thanks anyway.

Corby Borough Council did in in 2004 when I went in and got it myself, I was signposted to them from Wheelchair Services - so well worth asking - I'm sure they are not the only one.

You're lucky if you've got a decent council, ours is rated one of the worst in the country, especially relating to disabled services.
