Re: Autism
Mon 13 Oct 2008 16:10Hi Kaz
You'll be fine honey.
I have two severely disabled boys, one nealry 10, the other 11.
They have Fragile X syndrome and autism. The eldest also now has IBS and the youngest also has complex tourettes, severe ADHD, a heart murmur and epilepsy.Hard work and a lot of crying at first!
But the joy they bring is insurmountable.I am also at full time university, just started my 3rd year so not long to go and the work load is crazy as its 70% of our overall mark. But Ill do it, cos my boys have brought our attributes and strengths in me I never knew I had-
determination, tolerance, patience, a wicked sense of humour, tenacity and sheer bloody mindedness.
Yours will do the same to you hon.

Tue 14 Oct 2008 22:26Hi Kaz
you will come to terms and then you will be ready for the next roller coaster ride, just gather loads of info and help, this is a brill website and loads of people with tips and valuable advice sometimes better than the professionals because theve been there and got a drawer full of tee shirts ... and its a good thing sometimes the diagnosis, help schoolwise and coping stratergies for behaviors and getting on day to day.... be strong n take care
