how is this credit crunch affecting others? it has serioulsy changed my shopping habits and i am now trying not to waste so much food. I have really cut down to the basic brands and i find these just as good as any of the higher price brands. Hubby cant give up smoking so he is rollling his own ( i wish he could but thats another story). We just have to scrimp and save every penny now.

Re: credit crunch
Thu 25 Sep 2008 15:52It is the same here. I am discovering one million and one ways to use a bag of mince and one of them is to use half a bag per meal not a whole bag of mince. If things continue the way they do and I can see they will I am going to be replacing mince dishes with grated carrots and potatoes with onions.
Am sure if they are well seasoned no one will notice or will they?

Re: credit crunch
Thu 25 Sep 2008 15:53Ha Ha, i think i have spoke to soon. I have just finished cooking a salmom bake and it has completely curdeled!!! its revolting !! i didnt let the parsely sauce thicken up enough before pouring it all over the salmom (tinned salmon. would of been mighty p***ed off if it was fresh) and cooking it. It would make them all ill if they eat it!! So now i have got to throw it away
and cook something else !!!

Re: credit crunch
Thu 25 Sep 2008 17:05I was reading one of those articles the other day about beating the credit crunch where the advice was to drop down a brand in supermarket range & you would be amazed at how much you can save? Well all I can say is if you're already on value stuff where do you go..... rooting round the bins outside perhaps ??!!
